Here's your chance to help make Matanuska Greenbelt better. There's lots of different kinds of work for people with different skill sets to help with.
Come help finish the Bearberry Bluff Trail in Greenbelt Central on Sunday, July 14, 10am-4pm. Be ready to leave the Long Lake Trailhead parking area at 10am. Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers and MSB trail crew are leading a work day to help finish the new Bearberry Bluff trail. Wear or bring appropriate clothing, work gloves, water, lunch, bug dope, and any trail tools you may have. VMBaH will have Pulaskis and McCleods. Park in the Long Lake Trailhead parking lot: Take Colleen St off the Glenn Hwy, then follow fish signs along the paved road and continue on the lumpy gravel road past Canoe and Irene Lakes. Turn left at the Long Lake Access sign at top of hill.
If people can carpool, that can help with parking or if people have really low vehicles.
We're hoping that all users can help since everyone uses these trails.
And keep an eye out on our FB or website or VMBaH's to check for any changes in plans. We wanted to get this on people's schedules since we know how busy July is. (It's not on VMBaH's website yet, but we've been coordinating with the leaders.)
Remember if you put in 8 hours of trail work on MSB trails during an official work day, you can apply for a MSB parking permit valid for a year. Most work days get 4-6 hours of work.
Hope to see you all on Sunday, July 14.
